Sura Magnets develops, produces and markets polymer bonded magnets
in accordance with our customers’ specifications. Bonded magnets are produced by injection or compression moulding of a compound comprising of a magnetic powder homogenously embedded in polymer matrix. These methods enable cost-effective manufacturing of precision magnets in complex shapes.
Sura Magnets produces bonded magnets based on ferrite, NdFeB, SmCo and SmFeN. The polymer matrix can be varied, as well, to meet the special needs of our customers. The standard materials are Polyamide (nylon) 6 and 12 and PPS.
The choice of materials used is determined by the requirements of the application, including magnetic strength, thermal stability, working temperature, tolerances, workability and environment in which the product is to be used. Our standard selection of materials is designed to offer the optimum solution for most applications.
Injection moulding is a proven technique to manufacture products in complex, multi-functional shapes with consistent accuracy. Other advantages associated with injection moulded magnets are cleanliness, compactness, low density and environmental durability. Magnets can also be moulded around metal or plastic components, for example a spindle, bushing or pole ring.
Multi-component injection moulding – an area pioneered by Sura Magnets – makes it possible to produce components consisting of magnetic and non-magnetic parts in one tool and one process step.
Injection moulded magnets can be either isotropic or anisotropic. The most common magnetic orientations are axial, radial, diametrical and polar anisotropy. The magnets are delivered in magnetised or de-magnetised state, in accordance with the customer’s demands.
Sura Magnets’ customers are in all sectors of industry
The automotive industry uses our polymer bonded magnets in, amongst other things, sensor applications. The magnet and a hall element create a contactless system, which is able to sense a position, rotation or speed. We have successfully supplied bonded magnets for ABS sensors, throttle position sensors, safety belt indicators and electronic accelerator pedals.
Within the field of medical technology, our magnets are used in dialysis machines and hearing aids as well as many other areas. The magnets supplied by Sura Magnets meet the high demands, which these types of products require, especially in the areas of reliability and performance.
Sura Magnets’ products are also used in pneumatic cylinders. Bonded magnets together with hall effect sensors are able to signal the position of the piston within the cylinder. This provides a very cost-effective system.
